Anthropocene Urbanism in Mexico City and São Paulo

As part of a final colloquium for a summer research fellowship sponsored by the Henry Luce Foundation, I presented an overview of human modification of the environment in Mexico City and São Paulo in longue durée, proposing that histories of large-scale urbanization must always be excavated, both materially and mediatically, rather than assumed as empirical, visible realities of the so-called Anthropocene.
