Media in the Wake of Massacre: Counter-Forensics in Mexico

This paper situates contemporary art and media production in Mexico in relation to Eyal Weizman’s concept of “counter-forensics”: the appropriation of the state’s scientific techniques to dispute official narratives of violent events. I examine the work of Forensic Architecture in Ayotzinapa, Teresa Margolles in Ciudad Juárez, and Adriana Salazar in Texcoco.
